Hi, I was reading some of the posts regarding the recast and the "gasp" gay kiss. I hope cooler heads prevail. My thought... Chris Engen is an actor. I have studied acting and you at times have to do things you are uncomfortable with. My teacher said if you are not going to commit 100% then you need to think about why you are choosing to be an actor. Having said that, it is his choice. I have read it is due to his "Christian beliefs'. What I don't understand is what is "Christian" about faking a blindness and gaslighting someone? You are playing a role. I think God knows this. (And quite frankly, God has more important things to deal with.) Some actors say they get upset at being asked what it is like to kiss a member of the same sex, as if there is something wrong with it, but they don't get asked if they were uncomfortable playing a serial killer in their last role. And yes, I am gay and yes there are gay Christians.
As for the boycotting of the magazines and trying to stop distribution.. this disturbs me more than the gay thing. Now it involves peoples livelihoods. I may not agree with Chris' actions but I do not wish in anyway that he never finds other work as an actor. Think this through. Daytime is struggling already.. why make it worse? Because of a personal beef? Create a yahoo group or something and B & M about all of this but don't try to put someone out of business.
Last but not least, as a gay man I can see it being hurtful and construed as "homophobia" when someone states they do not want to see two men kiss. You are after all talking about "two men" not two characters. I am not saying it is meant to be hurtful I am just saying it can be construed that way. I for one will be tuning in more regularly to see what develops with the nuAdam and whether he is gay, bi or just using this as a ploy.
