Lucky for me the 8 o'clock hour on Wednesday is a wasteland for non-AMERICAN IDOL fans — that allowed me to watch my beloved N.Y. Rangers move to within a game of eliminating the hated N.J. Devils. Then it was crime time...

While it made for compelling story, I still think Emily's murder was a big mistake. I'm not happy that the Quartermaine ranks continue to diminish, plus in a dark world full of brooding mobsters, misguided molls and plastic surgeon/oncologist assassins, Emily was a beacon of light. Besides missing the character, I'll also miss her portrayer, Natalia Livingston.

Last week there was a group in our conference room that was so rowdy and sounded like so much fun I had to pop my head in.

Interviewing Drake Hogestyn (John, Days of our Lives), be it in person or via the phone, is always easy and fun. There's no pulling teeth to get good quotes out of him.

With the next Soap Cruise scheduled to set sail on January 26, 2009, that reminded me of the fun I had as Digest's shipboard correspondent with last year's star-studded trip.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Okay, as if we needed the Cylon situation to get any more complicated, we now have political intrigue and backstabbing among the toasters. Hmm, perhaps the skin jobs are more human than merely being humanoid. Distressed that the Raiders had become sentient, Cavil led a movement to lobotimize them.

Sometimes I'm just a mush. I want everyone on my show (OLTL) to be happy. I remind myself of my late father who used to love to yell at the television and tell the characters what to do. (Though I do talk to myself, I have yet to talk to the television. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.) So, I'm wanting ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Michael and Marcie to be able to adopt another baby.

There was no Rangers hockey Thursday night, so it's on to the entertainment portion of our blog….

AMERICAN IDOL: Well, the results show proved how easy this IDOL stuff is: a quick look at my earlier entry shows I correctly predicted the bottom three — and that was my first episode ever! I'm a natural! I was being kind when I compared Michael Johns' performance to bad karaoke.

That Kate Linder sure knows how to put out a spread. Daytime's favorite domestic (she has played Katherine Chancellor's maid Esther for over 25 years on Y&R) was recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame (just a very short jaunt from the equally well-known Chinese Theater, home to the footprints of showbiz legends).

I had been waiting for Wednesday night all week, absolutely breathless in anticipation of the debut of… New York Rangers playoff hockey! And I wasn't disappointed — the Rangers won, 4-1, taking a 1-0 series lead, and — What's that? You're not a big hockey fan? Haven't you ever… Oh? Oh.
