Show Me The Funny

Soaps know how deliver drama and romance, and they can also make us laugh. Doing all three at the same time is a bigger challenge, but OLTL pulled it off today with the wedding of David and Dorian. We felt for poor Dorian as David tried to postpone the proceedings. Was he really going to leave Dorian at the altar again? (No, insisted David — because the courthouse didn't have an altar.) But it turned out David just wanted to postpone the ceremony so he could fly to Vancouver and star in a movie based on his life. He loved Dorian and wanted to marry her — thoughts of Dorian are what got him through his imprisonment, David said tenderly. Unmoved by David's claim that an offer had gone out to Angelina Jolie to play her, Dorian said she wasn't going along with his plan. Was she going to end things? Nope — instead, she insisted they get married then and there, which David happily agreed to. After a sweetly funny ceremony, Dorian called Bo "Pa," and the deliriously happy couple skipped out of courthouse in a shower of rice. I've seen prime time sitcoms far less witty, and dramas with less dramatic tension than today's entertaining hour. Show 'em how it's done, OLTL!
