By Naomi Rabinowitz Posted: Sep 3, 2010While Jana's decision to work for Delia and Reed's nursery school certainly made for an interesting plot point on Y&R, I can't help wondering what type of school — especially one that deals with very young children — doesn't do a thorough background check on its teachers. Jana MURDERED someone. Yes, she had a brain tumor at the time she killed Carmen, but still, you figure that this would raise some red flags for any potential employer. Plus, she's still recovering from a recent brain operation and isn't entirely stable. Her kidnapping was big news in Genoa City, so her subsequent actions (losing her ability to feel emotions; running off with Ryder) were bound to be documented in the media. You could argue that Jana's employer, Liza, perhaps didn't know about Jana's history, but J.T and Mac certainly do, which made their blasé reactions to Jana very surprising. I don't know what the writers have in store for Jana, but if anything happens to those kids on her watch, I hope that the parents' and school's carelessness is noted.
