As much as I love drama on soaps, I really like when we're shown those quieter "slice of life" scenes that makes us belief that these characters actually live normal, mundane lives in between the action. BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL had such a scene this week when Bridget and Owen changed baby Logan's diaper for the first time. New mom Bridget scrunched her nose in disgust as she tossed the diaper into the garbage. The pair then chuckled good naturedly as the infant sprayed them, joking that he "wasn't finished yet." Given how often babies conveniently "disappear" on shows, only to return as toddlers — or sometimes even teens! — I appreciated seeing this very realistic portrayal where new parents were learning how to deal with the not-so-cute aspects of child care. Moreover, the segment helped move along the story involving Bridget and Owen's blossoming relationship. It's one thing to hear characters like Rick or Stephanie discuss their bond and warn Jackie about it, but it's much more believable when we actually see Bridget and Owen sharing these little moments.
