It's the final week of ATWT (sniff!) and I was, admittedly, dubious about the show cramming everything (a death, wedding and birth) into the last few episodes. With all the time they had to tell story, why wait until the end? But I'm surprisingly pleased with how fluid the transition from one momentous event to the other has carried out on screen. I enjoyed CarJack's third trip to the altar. Yes, it was incredibly hasty (and why the heck JJ couldn't be there is beyond me) but the proposal was sweet, well-written and the scene at the pond with the missing compass was a nice way to incorporate history and create those warm little fuzzies for longtime viewers.
As for the actual nups, well, I saw 2-minute ceremony go down months ago when EP Chris Goutman previewed the entire thing for the audience at the Paley Center for Media ATWT tribute event. Sigh. Why couldn't they devote an entire episode to the occasion? Regardless, Maura West and Michael Park still have sizzling chemistry after all these years and it'll be sad not seeing them share the screen anymore. I also loved seeing Rosanna return, the awkwardness (and nice reconciliation) between Molly and Holden and the fact that Craig showed up and made a halfhearted threat to ruin the whole darn thing before giving his shockingly considerate toast and blessing to the newlyweds. "I really don't want to have to arrest you today," Margo groaned. Ha! As for MIA Janet giving birth in the honeymoon suite as Jack and Carly arrived ... the jury's still out on that "twist."
