I've been meaning to blog about this for some time but wanted to wait until it played out on-screen, which has only further reinforced my feeling that Alexis's affair with the mayor on GENERAL HOSPITAL is a bunch of poppycock. While waiting for an oil change with my future mother-in-law over the long weekend, we turned on GH (which she had never seen) and there was Kristina arguing with Alexis about how mortified she was to learn that Mom slept with the mayor ... while she was in the middle of chemo! I turned to my two-time cancer surviving heroine and asked, "Uh.... When you were on chemo, did you have a libido?" She scoffed and said, "Libido or not, I wouldn't have had the energy. That is a bunch of bull." I love that the writers used her cancer treatment as an excuse for her indiscretion; like the fact that she was married to scummy Ric wasn't convincing enough? The shining light in this story, however, is Martha Byrne as the mayor's wife, Andrea. Who in their wildest dreams ever thought they'd get to see Byrne and the brilliant Nancy Lee Grahn go head-to-head? I love the new rivalry this story has created. How long do you think it will be before they're BFFs and start shopping for designer shoes and Diane gets jealous?
