Hoover left its competition in the dust with its immediate, personal response to the news that AMC and OLTL were being canceled. Fans frustrated and feeling powerless were thrilled by the company's announcement that they are pulling advertising from ABC in protest (to sum up viewers' response: "WOO HOO!"). At a time when it's increasingly difficult to break through advertising clutter and reach the consumer, Hoover let soap fans know they are listening, and willing to take action. Whether your soap is canceled, or your vacuum cleaner is on the fritz, that's exactly the reaction you want. Brilliant.
