Just when I got totally invested in newcomer Tucker McCall, actor William Russ's instant fireworks with Jess Walton (Jill), and the potential for some dynamite storytelling, YOUNG AND RESTLESS pulled a fast one on me: they recast the pivotal role. As a soap journalist and viewer, I have to ask, why? Russ has been irresistible as Tucker, a perfect blend of savvy businessman and mischievious little boy. And his scenes with everyone from Jeanne Cooper (Katherine) to Peter Bergman (Jack) have been fanastic. If Y&R wanted a popular, recognizable soap vet playing Tucker, they should have cast Stephen Nichols in the role in the first place. Having been introduced to Tucker via the fabulous Russ, it's going to be hard to get on board with a new actor.
