Hello Dear Readers,
Sorry to have been away. So, let's talk GH…. Have you been reading the posts about Sonny's trial? While Sonny (and his portrayer Maurice Benard) certainly has a strong, loyal fan base, I've seen a lot of negativity out there about how "this could never happen!" From the jury selection to the courtroom histrionics, I agree. It is exaggerated and over the top, but this is entertainment, after all. And it's funny when I read these comments, because a lot of them come from longtime fans. Has everyone forgotten that GH was never, ever MASTERPIECE THEATER? Fans long for "the days of sweeping romance and adventure," but take off those rose-colored glasses people. Remember the Prometheus Disc? The Dragon Bone? Shaun Cassidy under mind control? Robert's poisoned aftershave? Alien Casey from the planet Lumina? Heck, Luke's saving the world was cheesy, even for the '80s, and that's saying something!

Sure, I agree GH should beef up the romance quotient, and it certainly needs to rebuild its families, including ALL the generations. Yes, there is work to be done. Like any show on the air right now, GH is not perfect. But, there's been a lot of compelling drama (Kristina's storyline, for one) and riveting performances that still keep me coming back for more. Sure, I talk back to the TV on some days, but I'd rather do that than not have any daytime drama to watch at all. Considering we've lost a soap a year for the past two years, I'll take my GH warts and all. While I'd never infringe on anyone's freedom of speech, focusing on the negative doesn't bring about change. There are much more powerful and positive ways to make your feelings heard. Remember, the day may come when we have NO soaps to complain about, so like the song goes, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with."
