The Beverly Hills Hilton was home to the Eighth Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards, which aired live in prime time and were hosted by Deidre Hall (Marlena, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), Emma Samms (Holly, GENERAL HOSPITAL) and George Hamilton.


William J. Bell, creator of YOUNG AND RESTLESS and BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL, was surprised with the Editor’s Award, presented by his daughter Lauralee Bell (Christine, Y&R), Helen Wagner (Nancy, AS THE WORLD TURNS), Jeanne Cooper (Katherine, Y&R), Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie, DAYS), Ruth Warrick (Phoebe, ALL MY CHILDREN), Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B) and a taped message from Tom Selleck (ex-Jed, Y&R).
