When an actor leaves a role and the character must live on, a recast is called for. And when the actor was popular, the casting director has a tough job to do. Here are some of the recasts the editors at
Soap Opera Weekly thought were the best of the past 20 years. Please vote for your favorite, or write in your choices to
tellus@soapoperaweekly.com. Be sure to put "recasts" in the subject line. Remember, each character or storyline has to have originated in or after 1989.
